David Scott Kastan George M. Bodman Emeritus Professor, English at Yale University David Scott Kastan is the George M. Bodman Emeritus Professor of English at Yale University, having previously taught at Columbia University and at Dartmouth College. He has served as one of the General Editors of the Arden Shakespeare, the co-editor of the Bantam Shakespeare, and the series editor of the Barnes and Noble Shakespeare. He has also produced scholarly editions of Shakespeare’s Henry IV, Part One, Milton’s Paradise Lost, and Marlowe’s Dr. Faustus, and has written widely on various aspects of early modern literature and culture. Among his books are A Will to Believe: Shakespeare and Religion; Shakespeare and the Book; Shakespeare After Theory; and Shakespeare and The Shapes of Time. In 2018, his On Color, written with the painter Stephen Farthing, was published by Yale University Press, and he now is writing a book on Shakespeare and Rembrandt that is tentatively entitled Reading Paintings and Seeing Plays.
